Malaysian + Singaporean + Indonesian Restaurant

9 Parkway, Camden Town

Mamak Don has recently opened near Camden Town station.

It has the best native dishes from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia like:

Ayam Percik– grilled or roasted chicken marinated in flavorful spices like turmeric, cumin & coriander along with lemongrass, coconut milk & tamarind, commonly served with soy sauce with birds eye chilli on the side.

Ayam Goreng– fried chicken marinated in tumeric, lemongrass, etc.

Nasi Lemak– coconut rice with fried chicken, a chilli paste (sambal)]

Roti Canai / Prata–  fried flatbread cooked over a flat grill, served with lentil / chicken / mutton / salmon (I think) curry.

Laksa– rice noodles with chicken, prawn or fish, served in spicy soup; either based on rich and spicy curry coconut milk, or based on sour asam. [Peranakan cuisine*]

Nasi Goreng Kampung– Village Fried Rice: commonly cooked with with vegetables, chilli, anchovies, and shrimp paste

...and many more.

*Peranakan: descendants of early Chinese migrants who settled in Penang, Malacca,  Singapore and Indonesia inter-marrying with local Malays and combines Chinese, Malay and other influences.
